A local 4K port of TimeSplitters 2 is tucked inside Homefront: The Revolution. There’s only one drawback – the code to unlock it has seemingly been misplaced.
Throughout the Easter weekend, ex-Vlambeer developer Jan Willem Nijman requested fellow devs to level out their favorite Easter eggs hidden of their video games. Matt Phillips, who beforehand labored at Homefront: The Revolution developer Dambuster, revealed a doozy: “My proudest second. Totally playable, native 4K port of TimeSplitters 2 hidden on this arcade machine in Homefront: The Revolution.”

We already knew that two levels of the classic shooter were hidden inside Homefront, and followers had previously found the full game in Homefront’s recordsdata, but it surely remained unplayable by regular means.
Nevertheless, Phillips says that the sport was “absolutely playable” with using an unlock code. And that is the place it will get difficult, as Phillips now not has the pocket book the place he wrote it down. Even worse, his earlier makes an attempt to unfold it had been shut down. Responding to a fan’s request for the way to unlock the remaining, Phillips said:
“The unlock code has been misplaced to time, I haven’t got the pocket book with it in any extra. I as soon as gave it to a pal to leak in some Discord channel they usually known as him a liar and banned his account ahahah”.

Amazingly, Phillips even factors out that he particularly designed Homefront’s in-game arcade machine, which prompts the TimeSplitters Easter egg, in order that it could activate a multiplayer menu if positioned in the identical map as a second arcade machine.
Making clear that it could solely work in idea, Phillips wrote: “I ported the community stack to experience on prime of [Homefront: The Revolution’s] co-op mode. If, and that is a giant if, anybody was in a position to hack two or extra arcades into one of many co-op maps, it will boot to the [multiplayer] menu.” Phillips says he thinks there have been two of the sport’s multiplayer maps included.
After all, the Web is already in search of methods to search out the code, with many gamers already combing the sport’s recordsdata for clues. Phillips says this can be a fruitless search: “To place you out of your distress,” he wrote to a number of Twitter customers, “there’s nothing within the base sport that even remotely hints on the cheat, sorry.”

That possible will not cease followers in search of methods to avoid the code (or go trying to find somebody who has it), nevertheless – TimeSplitters 2 is a cult traditional to this present day, and the lure of a 4K port is probably going sufficient to maintain the neighborhood scouring.
As for the way the whole lot of TimeSplitters 2 was allowed into Homefront: The Revolution within the first place, Dambuster began life as TimeSplitters creator Free Radical, which held onto the supply code and later gained the rights to use it.
Given the fan response to this Easter egg, it does not look like a horrible thought to simply… launch the port as a standalone sport. We might even see extra TimeSplitters sooner or later, too – Koch Media has beforehand hinted at a brand new venture within the sequence, and brought on co-creator Steve Ellis to “plot the long run course” of the franchise.
